The Details

04/25/07

Here are some of the details you will need to know about this walking program!!

The program begins the 11th of September (Sunday) with registration and a short lecture on John Muir and ends the 12th of November (Saturday). There will be an end-of-the program breakfast at the Plymouth Congregational Church-UCC on the 20th of November.

Costs:

21 or over--$10

20 or younger--$5

The registration fees will be donated to Church World Services (Please make all checks out to "United Campus Ministry-PSU")

Tracking your mileage:

Each person is responsible for supplying his/her own pedometer. Many local stores have them for sale and there are a number of sites on the Internet that sell pedometers. For this program we will assume that 2000 steps equal one mile. On the forms page there is a chart that indicates the number of steps for alternative forms of exercise. There are also forms that can be downloaded so you can record your daily, weekly and program miles. There will be a link for you to upload you weekly totals, so you can compare where you stand with respect to other walkers.

Group Walks and other Events:

During the program there will be a number of group walks. There will be a link from the home page to those walks.  There will also be other programs on John Muir and on walking. The biggest event of the program will be a CROP walk in late-October, early November. This will be sponsored by the United Campus Ministry at Plymouth State University.
